This was unusual as it was only a one day meeting. Once again, this is another new circuit to me and was my first time riding at Oulton Park in my racing career. After a quick walk of the circuit I had then had 15 minutes to ride in practice and learn it. The weather was not being kind to us today and half way through practice the heavens opened up and as I was on slicks I sat the bike up and was gently when getting the power down and managed to complete the practice safely.
Race 1 – I originally had a grid position of 4th place, but due to the fact that the circuit owners were being difficult with the club and turned down the volume of the speakers we could not hear our call to get to the holding area which meant that we were a little late into the holding area and had to start from the back of the grid. I managed to get my head down and worked through the grid to finish in 2nd place to Kurt.
Race 2 – As I sat on the grid my temperature rose dramatically. I thought it was simply because I was stationary, but after the first lap of the race I realised that the temperature still remained in the 90 degrees mark. I therefore made a quick pit stop to top up the water in my radiator and dashed back out again to get some points.
Overall I managed to get 3rd place on the day. I am hoping that my final round at Cadwell will go smoothly with no problems.
